It was such a long drive, but Cade did so well. He was such a trooper and was pretty content just getting out of his carseat every couple of hours, he pretty much slept the whole time. It was great to have Mackenzie in the backseat to check on him and make sure he had his binky when he needed it too. We stayed at my uncle Derek and aunt Dana's house in Portland and we had a great time. We went over the Fourth of July and Cade didn't even wake up for fireworks, he just slept right through them. (I did miss Gus though cause he is probably the only dog that enjoys fireworks!)

This is my Grandpa. It was so nice to go up and visit with him and my grandma and remember all of the fun things that we used to do with them. When I was little they would take us to Disneyland and I remember just watching the parades with them and loving it. I am pretty sure my love for Disneyland comes from my grandparents, because they love it so much too. I also remember being very concerned about my grandpa losing his hair and getting a baldspot and trying to take hair off his chest to replace it, I was such a little weirdo. I used to look forward so much to the week in the summer that I would get to go spend at their condo in St. George or Mesquite because it just meant watching lots of movies and playing at the pool. One year my grandma taught me how to decorate cakes and for a few years I even made little kids birthday cakes for family. They also took me to see a musical called Starlight Express in Las Vegas one year, and I remember feeling like I was the luckiest kid alive! I have been blessed to have such wonderful grandparents. A lot of memories from my childhood have a lot to do with them. It was kind of a bittersweet visit to see them, because although we got to see them and catch up and let him meet Cade, my dear sweet grandpa is struggling with his health and we are not quite sure exactly how much time we have with him. I will miss him greatly, especially the way he always called me Darlin'.

On a happier note, this is us at Cannon Beach. He stole my heart and never gave it back. I remember thinking how hot he was in fifth grade and how I would always look for his 49ers coat on the playground on my way to school in the mornings, because it would determine whether it was going to be a great day. He was always super thoughtful and over summer vacation he went to Disneyland and brought me back a necklace and I lost it on the swings at recess, I remember being so sad and searching frantically for the lost Tigger charm in the gravel, but it was lost forever and I was heartbroken over it. (He did rebuy me one at Disneyland last February, so at least it could be replaced). He also brought me back a bracelet from Lake Powell and I wore it everyday, and actually still have it. I can't believe I was such a goof and didn't say yes when he asked me to "go out" with him, because I thought that dating and going out were the same thing, and you can't do that until you are 16.

Not much has changed since then, he is still the handsomest guy I know and is still super super thoughtful. I love the way that he always thinks about me before he ever thinks about himself. I love more than anything the way that he makes me laugh. He is my world and I cannot believe that we have been married for three years, time sure is flying. I love you Todd and am so excited to spend always and forever with you. (Leave it to me to wait until the last minute, but being nine months pregnant you are not sure exactly how large you will be from day to day). So I dragged Todd to a couple of stores and tried things on and everything made me look like a giant sun (their colors were black and yellow) and I couldn't even find anything black and white that was flattering. Finally at DownEast I decided on something that was doable and not too awful and we headed home. I spent the rest of the afternoon running to Kohl's to make sure that Todd had some new slacks and a tie so he wouldn't feel left out.

That night we went to Todd's parents house and were just watching TV and at about 10:30 at night I started to feel a little bit leaky...sorry if this is too much information, but we are talking about how a baby gets here right? I didn't know exactly what to do, so I went to the restroom and thought that everything was under control and sat back down. A few minutes later I was in the same predicament and thought to myself, "I can't just keep going to the bathroom or they will think I am crazy." So I did the only thing that made sense and texted Todd-I really need to get home, can we leave?

So as we head out to the car he asks me what is wrong, and I say "I am not sure, but I think my water broke." He looked at me like I was a loon seeing that we weren't due until the 22nd, which was 18 days away. So we head home and by the time we get there I am soaked...we only live about half a mile from his parents house. So at this point I am getting more nervous and I call my mom while Todd calls his mom and then his aunt Robyn. They all say to head to the hospital...I tell my mom that this can't be happening right now since J.D. is getting married tomorrow!

We decide to head to the hospital and I frantically pack a bag of stuff...I have no idea what I even put in there to be honest but I figured it would be a false alarm and we would be sent home. (At this point I was mostly worried that I was peeing my pants and it was going to be super embarrassing, because how can you not know if you are peeing your pants and how is it that I couldn't stop it?)

We get to the hospital at about 11:30 and tell the nurse that I am pretty sure I am going to have a baby, so they put us in a delivery room and do the little color strip test and sure enough...amniotic fluid, they say we are staying the night and will have the baby within 24 hours. I hadn't had any contractions up to this point, but once they started me on the pitocin at about 12:30 they pretty much started immediately. Can I just say that I had the BEST delivery nurses ever, Sheryl and Crystal were the best ever! They were so sweet and nice and calm, it was great.

By about 4:30 in the morning I was dialated to a three and the nurse talked the doctor into giving me an epidural, since the pain medicine they put me on was making be throw up each hour I had to take it. Let me tell you, epidurals are wonderful. I had a harder time with the IV since I had three different veins collapse and the anesthesiologist (who was also wonderful) had to come and put one in. But seriously, after the epidural it was like immediate relief...even though I didn't have to feel contractions for very long at all, I have no idea how people do it naturally...no thanks. At this point I took a nap for a bit and so did Todd, in that super comfy recliner. Things continued to progress and at about 10:35 I was dialated far enough that I could start pushing. The nurse told me that most first babies take two or three hours of pushing before they make it here, so to be prepared. So with each contraction we started pushing three times for ten seconds and after about 20 minutes of this I was starting to be worn out...I thought to myself that there is no way I am doing this for three hours and decided to give it all I had. In just under one hour she told me to stop pushing because she needed to get the doctor.

At 11:31 on June 04, 2010 Cade made his way into this world and we instantly fell in love with him. He had more hair than we expected. He weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. They took him to do his vitals and Todd got to take pictures and then they left him with us. His aunt Robyn, who works in the nursery, came to visit us and she helped Todd give Cade his first bath in the delivery room. After this, they moved us up into our own room and Todd's parents came to visit since they were supposed to be headed to Lake Powell that day...(Cade decided that this obviously was the best weekend to come). At 1:00 we were talking about the fact that my whole family was in the sealing room at the Salt Lake Temple with J.D. and Kristy and how crazy it was that we were missing it. Between the Temple and the reception they did stop by to get a picture, which was really sweet of them. Everyone in the hospital was probably so confused to see a bride and groom in their wedding attire wandering the halls of the hospital.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit us and for all of the sweet text messages, emails, and phone calls. We are so very blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

The weekend ended up being even more eventful (but not in a good way) with my Grandma May having a heart attack, my Grandpa Larson finding out he has cancer, and then my little sister Mackenzie getting a concussion at our house because the wind decided to knock a pretty heavy rod iron/wooden picture of the temple off of our shelf and onto her head. We all decided that we would stop asking what would happen next...it just seemed like too dangerous of a question.

Anyway, I realize this post is getting rather long and sometimes blogs are boring without pictures, so I promise within the next day I will get pictures up of our trip to Oregon and Cade's nursery...and then with a little pressure by next Friday I will put up the before and afters of our house pictures, since I still haven't done that yet!

Also, Cade is already 7 weeks...can you believe it? I cannot.The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-15349812970190844802010-06-21T10:34:00.000-07:002010-07-29T10:03:26.967-07:00
Welcome to the world Cade Robert Whatcott!

It is so crazy to think that this adorable little person wasn't supposed to bless our lives until tomorrow, but having him in our home for the last two and a half weeks has been pretty amazing. We had an ultrasound done a week before Christmas and it was the most amazing thing ever. I could not believe that in just three weeks from the last one that our little one has grown so much, you could tell what everything was and it was so crazy. It was also really fun because he/she had hiccups the entire time and so it was pretty funny. Also it likes to keep both hands in front of the face too, it was so cute. It was really nice to see it move around and to start looking more like a baby, but we still have one more month to go until we find out whether it is a boy or girl and then the fun can begin in planning for June! To me it is incredible how much I honestly already love this little baby, it definitely is a growing experience and I am trying to love and enjoy every minute of it.

Well sorry that my blog is lacking in the area of fun pictures lately, maybe I will decide to get myself ready for the New Years and post a picture of Todd and I at 15 weeks...maybe. I hope that you are all as excited for the year 2010 as we are and we wish you all the best!
The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-22951167629532962562009-12-02T08:49:00.000-08:002009-12-02T09:35:23.141-08:00I sure love the holidays! Thanksgiving has gotten me so excited for Christmas and I can't believe that it is already December, it is so crazy! Todd had a birthday yesterday and it feels like his last birthday was barely a month ago, time is flying by so fast I can't even believe it. I just want him to know that I sure love him and think he is the greatest husband ever. I do have a few recent pictures of Todd, but that will be a fun post about the Jazz game we went to on Thanksgiving, so I guess I do have lots to catch up on! For now I will just put up a picture of my handsome husband doing what he loves to do...this was from Alaska, we sure love that place!

In other big news...we have moved in! Hooray! With everything with the whole housing loan process it seemed as if this day would never come, and for the past few days we have actually been sleeping and living in our own home, it is kind of unreal and hasn't really hit yet. Gus actually doesn't realize that we live here, what with being displaced to Grandma Debi's while we have been working on it, he just keeps walking by the front door and waiting for us to leave and go home. Oh well, eventually he will love it like we do and realize he has way more room...he sure does love his new big backyard with friends on all sides to bark at. It is kind of strange to have neighbors now. My next post should be pictures of the before and after...but that will be in a while after we get all settled in of course.

We would really like to say thanks to everyone who has put in countless hours helping us work on the house there is no way we can even begin to repay you! Thank you for your many hours pulling awful wallpaper, sanding, mudding, texturing, primering, painting-thanks to the master Wendy who is so fast and so amazing, all of the beautiful finish work with the baseboards, casing, and our wonderful closets and doors-seriously Jay you are the best! Also our entryway railing which is so beautiful that Todd's grandpa LaGrand built for us, and many other things I am sure I am forgetting...(like the roof--thanks Jay and Cody!) Oh and of course, we can't forget the big move which was a great combined effort, which never would have happened without the help of my mother who was able to keep everyone on task with her master packing skills! I really don't want to leave anyone out especially since I had lots of dogsitters for Gus and lots of people who took care of us for dinner....so I guess just Thank You Everyone!

In other Really Big News...we have a very small announcement to make...really it is very little and just about two inches but we are so incredibly excited about it and get more and more excited every day....you are assuming correctly...Todd and I are going to have a baby in June! We found out the day after we closed on our house on October 15th and it has been consuming my thoughts for the past few months! I know that our family knows so it isn't going to be a big shock, but for those of you who we haven't run into us lately we just wanted to let you know. It is so crazy and I have been really sick, but we are hoping within the next few weeks it will change for the better, right? Anyways, we won't find out if it is a boy or a girl until sometime in January, but we will keep you updated. I know there have been times when I thought this day for us would never come, but it seems that good things come in pairs with the house and the baby happening all in a matter of days and with all that we have been through, it is really helping me to appreciate everything more than I might have if it would have all come easily to us. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends, and it really makes it that much easier to be thankful for all we have.

The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-32123708947045614642009-09-21T13:12:00.000-07:002009-09-21T13:25:08.730-07:00Wishing with all my heart that I was here....Oh how I love the Happiest Place on Earth! The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-77994305135365512222009-09-01T21:30:00.001-07:002009-09-01T22:03:18.234-07:00

It seems strange that summer didn't quite seem like summer this year. I mean June was especially rainy and we have had a few hot days, but it seems as though summer just isn't quite the same as it used to be. I miss only having to worry about what friends I wanted to play with that day and making sure to put sunscreen on. (I think I only had four days that required sunscreen this year!) It just doesn't seem quite right. I guess thats what happens when you turn into a grown up.

I just wanted to post a quick little update on our busy lives. Todd is back in school again and I am so proud of him for just sticking to it, I keep trying to tell him that in a few years when he is done he will be so glad he is doing it now--easy for me to say since I never went to college! I am just glad that he only has to be gone two nights a week instead of the usual four for school, it is so nice that his work is nice enough to let him take time out of his day for one of his classes. With school starting back up again, it also means that hunting season is upon us...so I fear he won't be home as much as I hope but I am just glad he has such a fun hobby that he loves.

As for me I am just doing the same old thing, transcribing at odd hours because I can't figure out how to just stick to a routine! It is so much easier to find other things to occupy my time with instead of working, (plus I really hate mornings!) I realize this is the benefit from working from home, but some days it makes it really hard to motivate myself. I also have gotten into the world of deal shopping and coupons, I admit it, I am such a sucker for a good deal! You seriously wouldn't believe how much money I don't spend on groceries anymore, it is really so much fun!

We hit a couple of bumps during the house process with the government auditing our lender and having to resubmit with another lender just days before closing but it seems like things are starting to smooth out and hopefully by this time next week we will "officially" be home owners. Oh well, I guess that just gave us an extra couple of months to save!

In other big news, Todd and I have been married for two years! It seems crazy to think that it has really been two years, it sure doesn't feel like it. Time seems to fly by lately it's so crazy. These two years have honestly been the best of my life and it seems that marriage gets better with time. I love that I have a best friend to share everything with and that he is always willing to listen. Seriously, best husband ever. I love you Todd, with all my heart.

It really is funny to look back at life and see how we got where we are today. It's funny at the time when you think you are going through some pretty tough trials that it is only preparing you for the wonderful days to come, it is however much more peaceful to see things from this side. It also is helping me to put into perspective what I think of as my current struggles, because I know in a few years when I am on the other side of it I will wish I could have shook myself and said "Rosie, quit stressing over things you can't change, things always work out the way they are supposed to and you know it!" Come What May and Love It!

I sure wish I had the willpower to post some more pictures so this post could be a bit more exciting, but you see, my computer is not exactly the fastest...and to load just one picture seems to take an eternity. Hopefully we have some fun things to post about as fall approaches, wish us luck! The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-21141600465155661732009-06-25T11:45:00.000-07:002009-06-25T12:13:29.411-07:00Summer is certainly flying by for us! We have just been trying to play as much as we can in between all the rainy days, which aren't so bad really. We had a great time with a lot of friends going to the Bees game...really I was only there for the fireworks!

We also had a wonderful time just soaking up the the sun, boating and relaxing down at Lake Powell. I think I ate double what I usually do during the week, but I guess all the sunshine and playing really takes it out of you!

Of course summer would not be complete with out good old Strawberry Days! It really is one of my favorite parts about summer. We can see and hear the carnival from our house, and we even could hear the rodeo too, well just on the nights that we weren't there. Yep, it's true, I am getting older...the big 23! Todd and I had such a fun time just spending the day together, we ate at Happy Sumo for lunch, my favorite, and then spent the day shopping and Todd bought me the best sunglasses ever! I am so excited for them to get here! Then we went to dinner at Macaroni Grill and went to see Transformers which I was so excited about and really want to go see again...yes it was that good! Thanks for the wonderful day Todd!

So all in all our summer has been going fast but we are trying to make the most of it before Todd has to get back to school in the fall. We are just glad that we still have another month or so to enjoy. In other news, its kinda a big deal and its a frustrating process but Todd and I are soon to be homeowners! Yeah, we decided to give in and buy since the time is right and we are just in the final stages for closing and then we have a lot of work to do but are so excited to get in and make it our own. So yeah, pretty exciting stuff, and we will keep you posted on the remodeling...it might be a while, but in the end it will be more than worth it!

The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-74906553903014319712009-05-26T10:03:00.000-07:002009-05-26T10:09:45.722-07:00
Gus is such a weirdo. He loves his bed...but he always ends up upside down in it or hanging halfway over the edge. He has a little fleece blanket that has ties that sits over his bed and he always chews on one of the ties, just one. Even after his blanket is washed he can still find his favorite tie, it is the goofiest thing. He seriously makes me laugh so hard, and if I am having a bad day he can cheer me up pretty fast. We love having him as part of our little family...and I think he likes it here.

The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-33928476610747245802009-05-21T09:31:00.000-07:002009-05-21T09:43:07.186-07:00

How HANDSOME is my husband? I just wanted to post about Todd and how wonderful he is. I just adore everything about him. I love the way he is so nice to try not to wake me up when he is getting ready for work in the morning, and how he always comes over to tell me that he is leaving. I love that even though I am probably driving him crazy with looking at houses and getting my hopes up about every one I see, he never makes me feel like I am stressing him out about it. I love that he is so kind to everyone. I love that he thinks I am funny, cause really I am not. I love that he motivates me to be a better person. I love that he is always willing to help people. I love that he lets me watch my TV shows...even though most of them are pretty dumb, I just get sucked in! I love that he gets along well with my family. The list could go on for days, but I just wanted to let him know how much I appreciate everything he does for me and how I am so glad that we have eternity to spend with each other, because one lifetime is simply not enough for the two of us. It was so sweet! It is so crazy how tall they all are, even the "short ones" tower over me. It was such a cool game to be at! He looks like he lost about half of himself and looks a bit like a different dog really. He is loving his shorter haircut for the summer though and doesn't seem to get so hot outside. Here is the before and after:

Last but not least, we went to WICKED! I absolutely loved it. I was so excited about going and couldn't wait to go up to Capitol Theatre to see it last Wednesday and had been listening to the soundtrack more than usual to get myself excited for it. Todd was even so nice and took one of his finals for the semester a day early so he could go up with me and two of my little sisters, Emily and Mackenzie, what a wonderful husband he is!

We are just looking forward to the summer and being able to have Todd at home during the nights. He is excited about his break from school and deserves to have a little time off! I can't believe that it is almost Strawberry Days! This year has really flown by, its crazy to think that in just a few short months we will have been married for two full years. It seriously feels like we just barely got married!
The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-5083921998932559522009-03-06T09:47:00.000-08:002009-03-06T10:48:53.745-08:00A Valentines Adventure!I have the greatest husband in the whole world, he truly is amazing and I am so glad to have found him! For Valentines he surprised me with a fun little get away to my favorite place...Disneyland! We decided to make a fun weekend of it and drive down to Vegas thursday and get up early on Friday and drive to Disneyland so we could spend three fun filled days there before coming home on Monday. As far as we were concerned it couldn't get more perfect, until...a small freeway closure in Beaver that took us on a funfilled adventure through Minersville. It barely added an extra 20 minutes onto our trip and then we were on our way to Vegas! We stayed at the lavish Circus Circus...ha! Okay, okay even though it was a little rundown it was sure worth paying only 20 dollars to stay the night. This is when things started to get a bit bumpy...well when we woke up early so we could leave around 7:00 a.m. (I am so not a morning person, but for Disneyland I sure can be!), we came out to the car and saw this little beauty...

yeah, basically that is a screw broken off in the tire of the car...and the tire was flat. Not exactly the start we were hoping for, but no worries Big O Tires to the rescue! Boy am I sure glad that we bought new tires for the car last year, making the repair free!

So on our way down through California we passed about 14 Corvettes, which must have been on their way to something special but we also hit some fog...it was crazy, the pictures hardly even show you how foggy it was...

Due to the fact that I somehow never figure out that I shouldn't drink as much soda on long drives, we had to stop a few times. Todd and I had so much fun just spending the weekend with each other, riding rides and eating frozen bananas, (my favorite thanks to my dad). It was funny though because I don't remember even getting tired at Disneyland before, I must be out of shape! It did end up pouring rain while we were there and since I left our ponchos and umbrella at the hotel I had to give in and buy this sweet hat (any reason to shop I suppose!).

I have to say that I think Todd's favorite part of the vacation was deciding to eat at ESPN Zone! It was crazy, we got to sit in some recliners at the front of the restaurant and eat while just lounging and watching the big screen TV in front of us, it was so nice to be able to lay down and recline after walking all over the park that day.

Valentines was the best ever! We got to eat at our favorite restaurant at Disneyland, The Blue Bayou and the food was so good! I swear, each time we come it gets better and better!

All in all we had a really wonderful trip. It rained quite a bit, but it made it a little less crowded and I really think that Todd and I have mastered the art of the Fast Pass. I know that we were only there a few weeks ago, but blogging about it makes me anxious to get back!

Okay, so I turned this picture into a cartoon and saved over the original...oops! I just can't wait until we have a few small ones to drag along with us! Hooray for Disneyland!

The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4286837454883586003.post-77992034665646100532009-02-22T21:14:00.000-08:002009-02-22T21:35:20.680-08:00Alive, I promise! Here goes....To get myself back into the whole blogging thing, I decided I would start with something small to let you know that I am still alive before I dive into a longer post tomorrow...hopefully. Todd and I have just been super busy, (as I am sure most of you reading are!) and I just am glad that we have tried to take pictures so we can remember that even though life seems to be speeding by with basically work, school, eating and sleeping that we have managed to work in some fun. It might take a few posts to get you updated on what is going on in the Whatcott household, but I know it will be impossible not to leave a few things out! Just hang on a few weeks and we will be back on track!

Gotta love the Jazz!The Whatcott'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08902344499349629895noreply@blogger.com6
